BATGIRL Co-Director Adil El Arbi Says Brendan Fraser Delivered an Oscar-Worthy Performance in Scrapped DC Film

Last year, DC Bad girl the film was pulled from the lineup, completely scrapped in favor of any kind of release, and the cast and crew were pretty upset about it. Fans also wondered why the studio wouldn’t just release the film on HBO and let fans enjoy what was made, especially considering how the stars and creators have spoken about their love for the project.

Leslie Gracewho played the role of Batgirl in the film, previously opened up about her experience making the film and working with her co-star Brendan Fraser:

“I actually had one [the best] experiences with Batgirl. In terms of the shooting experience, we were all so excited for people to see a lot of the action, a lot of the practical shots that we did with fire. Our film was full of practical fire, and it was really difficult to shoot. Brendan [Fraser], our villain, our Firefly, was just brilliant. I felt so lucky to have him as my sparring partner. We had so many great action scenes together where we would beat the shit out of each other, but we would hug in between takes because he’s so sweet.”

Now, the film’s co-director, Adil El Arbi He’s also singing Fraser’s praises, telling Yahoo Entertainment about the film and its stars:

“People love the Bat family: they love Batgirl, they love Gotham City, they love Michael Keaton, and Brendan Fraser gave an Oscar-worthy performance in the movie.”

Fraser is such a beloved actor. I would have loved to see his performance in the movie, and I think it was really terrible of the studio to take it out of the hands of the people who worked so hard to make it. I’m happy that he’s getting more roles again, and he’ll remain in the spotlight after his first Oscar win earlier this year for his portrayal of him in The whale. Fraser will next appear in Martin Scorsese’s film The Assassins of the Flower Moonin theaters from October 20th.
