Donald Glover and Lucasfilm worked on the development of a Star Wars spin-off project of the series for Landau for a few years. Well, it has now been revealed that the project is now in development as a feature film.
The news comes from Donald Glover’s brother and co-writer of the project, Stephen Glover, who shared with the show Pablo Torre Finds Out:
“The idea right now is to make a film. Right now, because of the strike, it’s a bit like the telephone, all the information comes out.”
Donald Glover will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian and the story will follow one of his many adventures after the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story. We have no idea what this adventure will entail, but I’m excited and curious to see what the story will be. Glover had previously teased his take on it.
Glover wanted to tell a story he knew he’d be happy with, and he doesn’t want to waste time on a project he’s not fully invested in, but he said Lando is definitely a character he’d like to play again: “People have realized realized that their time was precious. You only get so much. So I’m not interested in doing something that’s just a waste of time or just a paycheck. I much prefer spending time with people I like. So it just has to be the right thing, and I think it could be. Lando is definitely someone I would love to hang out with.
Glover previously shared his vision for a Lando project, describing it as Frasier in space: “It would be cool to see, like, Frasier in space. Like, a high-end guy in space. All of these characters are very specific and have very specific points of view, so it’s always going to be fun to see them travel to a planet that’s the opposite of what they’re used to… And it all sounds so it would be fun to write, for sure.
