Netflix has released the first director’s trailer Wes Andersonfilm adaptation of Roald Dahl’s short film The wonderful story of Henry Sugar. Benedict Cumberbatch protagonist in the short film as a rich London bachelor. If you’re a fan of Anderson’s work, then this is a project you’ll enjoy. Sounds like the director’s signature fun entertainment!
The story is based on the mystic Kuda Bux’s “real-life tale, Dahl’s Enrico Zucchero The story follows a gambler who learns the art of meditation in hopes of learning to see through playing cards. The film is also the protagonist Ben Kingsley, Richard Ayoade, Dev Patel, Ralph Fiennes AND Friend Rupert.
This is the second film Anderson made as an adaptation of Dahl’s work, following his 2009 film Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Anderson previously spoke about the film, telling IndieWire, “I knew Roald Dahl since before we made ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox,’” Anderson previously told IndieWire. “I met Lindsay Dahl, his widow, when we were filming ‘The Royal Tenenbaums,’ about 20 years ago. For years I wanted to do “Henry Sugar”. They put this story aside for me because I was their friend. Lindsay kind of passed the baton to Luke, Dahl’s nephew. So I had this waiting for me. But I really couldn’t understand the approach. I knew that what I liked about the story was its writing, Dahl’s words. I couldn’t find the answer, and then suddenly I found it.”
The wonderful story of Henry Sugar will be released on Netflix on September 27th.
