This week’s wild retro trailer is for the 1986 film Hands of steel Also known as Revenge from the future AND Atomic cyborg. This sci-fi action film was directed by Sergio Martino and it has all the non-stop 80’s style action you would want in a movie! This is one of those movies I used to see as a kid on the VHS cover on the shelf at the local video rental store. My dad would never rent it to me though!
The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future and revolves around Paco Queruak (Daniel Greene), a cyborg and a local arm wrestling champion, designed for assassination. Paco is programmed to kill a blind environmentalist, named Francis Turner, who opposes the corporate interests of a large corporation. However, Paco’s human side begins to interfere with his programming, leading to internal conflict. He tries to resist his murderous instructions and flees to a desolate area called “The Zone” to avoid completing his mission.
The film sees Paco take refuge in a motel, where he forms a bond with a woman named Linda. As they get closer, the corporate overlords who designed Paco send a series of adversaries to hunt him down and ensure the assassination is carried out. Over the course of the film, the struggle between Paco’s remaining humanity and his programmed directive intensifies, leading to a climactic confrontation.
The film was heavily influenced by films such as The Terminator AND Blade Runner. Watch the trailer!
