A trailer and poster for the intense thriller have been released The Royal Hotelhero Giulia Garner (Ozarks, Inventing Anna) AND Jessica Henwick (Iron fist, Glass Onion), as well as Toby Wallace, Hugo Weaving, Ursula Yovich, Daniel Henshall, Herbert NordrumAND James Frecheville.
The film is directed by Green Kittenwho had previously directed Garner The assistantand Green co-wrote the screenplay for this film Oscar Redding (Tough cop).
The synopsis reads:
“Hanna (Garner) and Liv (Henwick) are backpacking across Australia when they run out of money and are forced to take jobs at the Royal Hotel, an outback bar. They are immediately faced with a sea of rowdy men who pack the bar every day. There is no paint to their testosterone and while Billy (Hugo Weaving), the perpetually drunk owner of the pub, toes the line and turns men away when they go too far, he has also enabled their behavior in the first place. Liv tries to ignore the advances, but this only makes Hanna even more anxious, as she begins to worry about her friend’s safety as well as her own. It soon becomes clear that the longer women they stay there, the more likely it is that this ongoing threat will reach them.”
It looks so beautiful! The tension that Garner maintains is so relatable for all women, and I love that more films are being made from this perspective. Check out the trailer and poster below and watch The Royal Hotel in select US theaters on October 6.
