Warner Bros. has announced that Legendary Entertainment’s Dune: second part and New Line Cinema The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim they have been delayed. We’ll have to wait a little longer before seeing these films and that’s a shame.
Dune: second part will move from November 3, 2023 to March 15, 2024. The War of the Rohirrim will move from the release date of April 12, 2024 to December 13, 2024. As you probably suspected, these movies are getting delayed due to actor and writer strikes.
It was also announced the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire it was moved to April 12, 2024. It was originally supposed to come out a month earlier, on March 15, 2024. That’s not a huge change, though.
Dune is the journey of a mythical and emotionally charged hero and tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet), “a brilliant and gifted young man born with a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s sole supply of the most precious resource in existence – a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential – only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
The next chapter of the story will explore the “mythical journey of Paul Atreides as he joins Chani and the Fremen as he is on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Faced with the choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he attempts to prevent a terrible future that only he can predict.”
The War of the Rohirrim is set two centuries before the events of Tolkien The Hobbit AND The Lord of the Ringsand “will explore the exploits of Helm Hammerhand, the king of Rohan, and the creation of Helm’s Deep, the stronghold”.
The film is set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy. “A sudden attack by Wulf, a cunning and ruthless Dunland lord seeking vengeance for his father’s death, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of Hornburg, a mighty fortress which will later become a reality known as Helm’s Deep.Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Hera, Helm’s daughter, must find the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy bent on their total destruction.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire “follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the all-powerful Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal unknown threat lurking in our world, challenging their very existence – and ours.” “, reads the film. synopsis. “The new epic film will further delve into the stories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while also uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and forever bind them to humanity.”
I can’t wait to watch both of these movies, but I guess it’s better late than never.
