Two of the director John CarpenterClassic films from are returning to theaters on their respective anniversaries. They live is returning to theaters for its 35th anniversary, and Christine will hit the big screen for its 30th.
Special screenings are organized by Fathom Events and each film will include special introductions made exclusively for Fathom Events by Carpenter. The director will reflect on the creative process behind these films and the impact and influence they have had on the horror genre.
They live will be screened on Sunday, September 3 at 4 and 7:00 pm local time, and Wednesday, September 6 at 7:00 pm local time.
Christine will be screened on Sunday, September 10 at 4 and 7:00 pm local time, and Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm local time.
In They live“Nada (Roddy Piper), a meaningless wanderer in his life, discovers a pair of sunglasses capable of showing the world what he really is. As she walks the streets of Los Angeles, Nada notices that both the media and the government contain subliminal messages intended to keep the populace in submission, and that most of the social elites are skull-faced aliens bent on world domination. Arnie develops an unhealthy obsession with cars, alarming his jock friend, Dennis Guilder (John Stockwell). After bully Buddy Repperton (William Ostrander) defaces Christine, the car restores itself to perfect condition, and begins killing Buddy and his friends. Determined to stop these deaths, Dennis and Arnie’s girlfriend Leigh Cabot (Alexandra Paul), decide to destroy Christine.”
