Director Zack Snyder we recently caught up with IGN to talk about it rebel moon, and during the interview the director was asked what game properties he thinks could make for great movies. The two films he brought out were Gears of war AND halo. He said of the properties:
“I mean, Gears has always sort of entered our circle, I was a fan of the game. I was always interested in the Halo franchise… Of course they did it, but it was something I always thought would be amazing.”
These are projects that Snyder has obviously thought about over the years. I guess if the opportunity to direct one of these films presented itself, he would jump at the chance. Snyder has such a brilliant cinematic visual style that he would be a perfect fit for these kinds of projects.
Earlier this year it was announced that Netflix was developing a live-action Gears of war movie with Jon Spaihts (Dune) writing the script. Since then, however, there have been no updates on the project. Over the years there have been several attempts to get a film adaptation of this hardcore video game off the ground. Both Dave Baptist AND Terry Crews they expressed a desire to star in the film.
As for halothat Paramount+ series was a huge disappointment. halo could really make an epic film series, and to me it’s so absurd that it didn’t! Halo would be an outstanding cinematic event if it were done right. Let’s hope that one day someone does it really well.
