TrustNordisk has released the first trailer and poster for the upcoming epic historical drama The Promised Land. The film is the protagonist Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Indiana Jones and the Quadrant of Destiny) as Danish explorer Ludvig Kahlen, “who sets out to conquer the rugged and uninhabitable Danish wilderness with a seemingly impossible goal; build a colony in the name of the king”.
This is a true story which is described as ‘a gripping story of conquering the moor, the story of a proud and uncompromising man and a woman who become his ally in the fight against evil, death and perdition’.
Mikkelsen is a very talented actor and this seems like a very interesting role for him to play. I have no doubt he will deliver a great performance. This is a movie I definitely want to see!
Mikkelsen plays opposite Amanda Collin (Raised by wolves), Magnus Krepper (Queen of Hearts), Simon Bennebjerg (Borgen), Gustav Lindh (The Norman), Kristine Kujath Thorp (Ninjababy), Morten Hee Andersen (Margrete: Queen of the North), Jacob Lohmann (Knights of Justice), AND Felix Kramer (Dark).
The film comes from the director Nikolaj Arcel from a script he wrote with Anders Thomas Jensen (Knights of Justice). It is based on the 2020 Danish bestseller Kaptajnen and Ann Barbara translated as The Captain and Ann Barbara. The film will have its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
