Over the course of two days, the Coraline The 4K theatrical re-release raised about $5 million dollars, which is pretty damn impressive for a movie that was originally released 14 years ago. Fans have definitely backed the family horror film LAIKA and more screening dates have been announced!
The film made $4.91 million on Monday, August 14 and Tuesday, August 15 at the US box office. Head of Marketing and Operations of LAIKA David Burke said in a statement, “We are thrilled to see throngs of LAIKA fans step out in record numbers for the third consecutive year to enjoy this Coraline theatrical experience, this year in stunning 4K.”
Ray NuttCEO of Fathom Events added, “As of now, Coraline is Fathom’s greatest classic film of all time and the second highest grossing title for 2023. This film brings in such a huge fan base year after year, and definitely they came out in force this year to see their favorite movie.
Newly added theatrical screening dates are August 28 and August 29, 2023, from Fathom Events. This is a movie that my kids and I love! It will be fun to see it in theaters again! The description reads:
“Coraline boasts stunning stop-motion animation, hand-crafted puppets and meticulously designed sets, freshly recolored and remastered for 2023. Based on the novel by beloved author Neil Gaiman, Coraline is a wonderful, thrilling, fun and full of suspense. A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life, only much better. But when this wonderfully misplaced fantasy adventure turns dangerous and her fake parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must rely on her resourcefulness, determination and courage to save her family and return home.
The film was written and directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Wendell & Wild), Coraline stars Dakota Fanning, Ian McShane, Teri Hatcher, Keith Davidand the British comedy duo French dawn AND Jennifer Saunders.
