The wonders the film will unite Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan/Ms. Wonder (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) to the screen for the first time and will undoubtedly have major consequences for the future of the MCU. The director of the film Nia DaCosta and executive producer Maria Livano sat down with Total Film magazine to talk about it and give a little preview of what we can expect.
They explain that it all ties into an artifact in the villain Dar-Benn’s possession: the second bracelet that pairs with the one Kamala Khan is wearing. Kamala’s bracelet unlocked her latent mutant powers, but one of the questions hanging over Ms. Marvel’s conclusion involved the location of the second bracelet. Now we have our answer. “You’ll have enough of the story of how and why Dar-Benn acquired the bracelet,” says DaCosta. Livanos says it was revealed early on:
“In Ms. Marvel, we learned that the bracelet, paired with some other form of power, can force a temporary hole in space and time to lead somewhere else. With the power of both bracelets, it’s definitely possible to make more. And we see the culmination of that throughout the course of this film. It certainly leads to abundant opportunities for the future of the MCU, whatever the Avengers and Secret Wars teams may want to do with them.
So how does it work The wonders fit into the bigger picture? DaCosta knows he can’t say much and doesn’t even know all the answers. She deflects:
“This is a question for [Marvel boss] Kevin Feige. I have many thoughts. But I really have no idea what they’re going to do in the Avengers movies. I know those kids who do that watch movies, see what we’re doing. I have things that I really want [to happen]. But I’m not sure.”
Livanos says so The wonders primarily explores the ramifications of Carol Danvers’ actions in the prime universe, but adds that “the storyline deals with some fluctuations in time and space, and there’s a definite danger afoot that could affect the multiverse.” She continues, “Where it all leads is a bit of a spoiler, and exactly how this will play out in an Avengers movie is currently being finalized. Opportunity.”
The wonders will be released in theaters on November 10, 2023.
