Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for its upcoming fairytale horror series The Shapeshifter. The series is based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Victor LaValle, and the story is described as “a coming-of-age tale, a horror story, a parenting fable, and a dangerous odyssey through a New York City.” you didn’t know it existed.”
It looks like a great series that will tell a dark, intense and emotional story. The series follows Apollo and Emma and their love story is a fairy tale… until Emma mysteriously disappears. Apollo then finds himself on “a death-defying odyssey through a New York City he never knew existed.” The whole nightmarish journey begins when Emma meets an old woman in a lagoon in Brazil and that old woman has granted her three wishes.
The eight-part series stars LaKeith Stanfield (Haunted house) and is flanked by Clark Backo, Adina Porter, Samuel T. Herring, Alexis Louder, Jared Abrahamsonand special guest star Malcolm Barrett.
The Shapeshifter is written and adapted by showrunner and executive producer Kelly Marceland the pilot episode was directed by Melina Matsoukas. The series will debut with the first three episodes on Friday, September 8, 2023 on Apple TV+. Enjoy the creepy trailer!
