With Rick and Morti Season 7 soon premiered on Adult Swim, the show’s creative team recently showed up at Comic-Con to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary and while there, offered an update on the series’ future.
It was revealed during the Adult Swim Festival on the Green panel at Comic-Con that Rick and Morty season 7 is “canned,” season 8 has been fully scripted, and now they’ve begun developing season 9! Executive producer Steve Levy explained during the panel that part of Rick and Morty season 9 has already been written.
When the animated comedy was renewed for 70 episodes, it came with the promise that there would no longer be a long wait between new seasons like there was in the early years. They have a more streamlined show development process and it’s working!
Levy also offered an update on the recast Justin Roland’s character Rick, saying, “We’re nearing the end of our recast process. It will be great. I’m really impressed with everything that’s going on, including all the work on season seven.
When asked by a fan if the new entries would be similar to Roiland’s versions, he said, “It’s soundalike. The characters are the same characters, no changes.
A release date for Rick and Morti Season 7 has yet to be announced, but you can check out the first six seasons on Max and Hulu.
