Since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over at DC, they’ve had to do quite a bit of housekeeping in the form of post-production and getting upcoming movies into shape to be released. One of the movies they put some tweaks on was the upcoming one Blue Beetlehero Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes, the titular superhero. THR reports that the film’s production requested and received two days of additional filming, and now it’s ready to roll.
In the meantime, Jason Momothe sequel Aquaman and the lost kingdom it’s in its third round of filming. This is pretty unprecedented, but after two previous rounds of screenings and reshoots that didn’t go well, Gunn is said to have evaluated the most recent cut and management has approved five days of filming. Sources say the shoot went so well that Wan and company completed what they needed to in just four years.
And to some, the fact that Warners is willing to continue spending money on improving the film shows that the studio has faith in its success. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
Blue Beetle will be released in theaters on August 18, 2023 e Aquaman and the lost kingdom will be released in theaters on December 20, 2023.
