Watch Bill Murray’s deleted scene from Wes Anderson’s ASTEROID CITY

Focus Features has released a deleted scene from Wes Anderson’S City of Asteroids called “The Missing Bill Murray Part.” Murray was originally going to star in the film as the character who Steve Carell played, but caught Covid and had to retire.

Anderson said, however, that “when Bill recovered, he came to Spain. At the end of the movie [where ‘Asteroid’ shot], we finished the film, and Bill and I got in the car and drove to France. It was a great way to end it, but it was the first time I hadn’t seen him in a movie in a long time.

Anderson and Murray shot this scene when the actor finally went to the film set. The director came up with two new characters for Murray to play… Jock Larkings, “the head of Larkings Corporation, a fictitious aviation and armaments company in the film,” as well as Tab Whitney, an actor who plays Larkings.

Anderson said: “We made this very unique thing that is just a spontaneous creation before the set was torn down. It was the last thing we did. And then we put all our stuff in the golf cart and headed off into the sunset. It’s a weird little bit, but it kind of says something I feel about the movie.

I liked it City of Asteroids, and it’s nice to see Bill Murray’s small appearance in this little clip, which is pretty much a fun and quirky trailer for the movie. I hope you enjoy!
