Sword Art Online it is a great anime series that you must watch if you are not already. The universe is so large that the story has expanded with a spin-off series titled Sword Art Online alternative: Gun Gale Online. The first season of that show was released in 2018, five years after it was announced that the spin-off will have a second season, which is sure to excite fans!
Sword Art Online alternative: Gun Gale Online follows the exciting virtual reality adventures of Karen Kohiruimaki, a shy and introverted girl who escapes the insecurities of real life by immersing herself in the virtual world as her fearless alter ego, Llenn. In this game, players fight with guns across a vast post-apocalyptic landscape. Along the way, Llenn forms an unlikely bond with Pitohui, a seasoned gamer with a mysterious past. Together, they enter the high-stakes Squad Jam tournament, a cutthroat battle royale where teams fight to the death. As the competition intensifies, Karen’s courage and skills are tested, and she must face both her own personal struggles and the dangerous secrets that lurk within the game.
The official synopsis reads: “In the world of guns and steel that is Gun Gale Online, LLENN has been a devoted solo player. She is obsessed with two things: dressing all in pink and honing her her skills with consistent play. She soon discovers her love for hunting other players (aka PK), soon to be known as “Pink Devil”. Meanwhile, LLENN meets a beautiful but mysterious player, Pitohui, and the two instantly click. Doing as she was told by Pitohui, she enters the Squad Jam group battle.
The whole Sword Art Online The franchise features thrilling action, engaging character development, and explores some interesting and complex themes. I’m sure fans will be happy to see Karen back in action!
The new season will bring back the creators and voice actors from the first season of the series. Tomori Kusunoki will return as Karan Kohiruimaki aka Llenn. Studio 3HZ, who worked on the first season, will also return to develop the series. You can watch an announcement video below.
