Antonio Carrigan is the latest to join the cast of James Gunn’S Superman: Legacy and the announcement comes as he earned his third Emmy nomination for his work berry.
Carrigan will play a superhero named Metamorpho, whose alter ego is archaeologist Rex Mason. In the comics, Mason was transformed into a Metamorpho after being exposed to the light of an ancient meteor during an expedition to find the Orb of Ra. He uses his ability to transform into any element of the periodic table to fight crime, uncover the mysteries of the world, and perhaps have another chance at being human.
Yep, that sounds just like the kind of DC character Gunn would love to play as in the DC Cinematic Universe, and Carrigan is the perfect choice to play him!
Carrigan joins David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan like his love interest Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner aka Green Lantern, Isabella Merced such as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
The film will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, driven by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned. The story will involve “Superman joining a world where superheroes already exist.” We’re starting to see who these superheroes are, and I imagine there will be more to come.
Superman: Legacy will launch the film portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It is expected to begin in early 2024, right on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
