Marvel’s SHANG-CHI 2 will arrive after AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY or AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu he recently held a small “Ask Me Anything” session on the new social media platform Threads. During that session, the actor was asked about the status of Shang Chi 2 and revealed that it would happen next avengers, but didn’t specify what the Avengers movie was. He said:

“I was told he would be following avengers, but he keeps pushing back due to circumstances beyond my control 🙁 hope to have more concrete news to share soon.”

There are two upcoming Avengers movies that have been announced. There are Avengers: Kang Dynasty AND Avengers: Secret Warsboth postponed and will be released in 2026 and 2027.

Only three films have been announced for Phase 6 so far which include the two Avengers films and Fantastic Four. AS, Shanchi 2 it could very well end up being part of Phase 6. But, if it isn’t, I guess that means we can expect it in Phase 7.

I liked the first Chang-Chi movie! It was great to see a martial arts fantasy film in the MCU and I hope they continue to enjoy that one.

As for what we can expect from the sequel, Liu teased that the film will expand on the mythos and hopefully include as much of its cast as possible:

“Going into a sequel is exciting. It doesn’t necessarily feel like there’s a pressure to perform or a pressure to overcome. It feels like we’ve created a world and there’s just something really nostalgic and exciting about going back to that world that we’ve been through.” so much time thinking and thinking. And then, we’re revisiting some things, but also showing the viewer new things. We’re going to deliver all the amazing action we were celebrated for in the first film, but then also hopefully explore new sides of the character of Shaun and the characters around him. Of course, if we can still afford Michelle Yeoh. She’s on top of the world and just the queen of it all.”
