J. Michael Straczynski tried to get a Babylon 5 revival of the series that has been going on for years. When the animated film Babylon 5: The road home was announced, I wasn’t sure if that meant the revival series was dead or not. Then I started seeing reports that the revival series was dead, but it really isn’t! This series could very well still happen! As of right now, he’s in a state of limbo due to the writer’s strike.
TVLine reports it Babylon 5 is “a project that was still in limbo on The CW and is now, like so much else in the business world, ‘on hold’ due to the WGA strike.” So, there is still hope that the project can move forward at some point. When there’s news to share, you can bet Straczynski will eagerly share it like he always does when there’s an update to share with fans.
The new iteration of Babylon 5 it is described as a “fresh restart”. In the series, “John Sheridan, an Earthforce officer with a mysterious background, is assigned to Babylon 5, a five-mile-long space station in neutral space, a port of call for travelers, smugglers, corporate explorers, and alien diplomats at a time of restless peace and the constant threat of war. Her arrival triggers a fate beyond anything she could have imagined, as an Earth exploration company accidentally triggers a conflict with a civilization a million years before us, putting Sheridan and the rest of the B5 crew in the line of fire. as the last, best hope for the survival of the human race”.
I really hope so Babylon 5 awakening happens! It will obviously take some time, but it’s nice to know that there’s still a chance it will happen!
