One of the upcoming live-action remakes Disney is developing is Snow Whitewho will play Rachel Zegler such as Snow White and Gal Gadot like the evil queen. Marco Webb (500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man) is directing the film from a script written by Greta Gervig (Barbie, Little Women).
There hasn’t been much talk about this movie, but Gal Gadot recently decided to take on the role of the evil queen in the story. In an interview with Vogue UK, Gadot teased her role by saying:
“I don’t have a favorite type of character. I think it was so much fun playing the Evil Queen. There was something so delightful about this part because it’s a fairy tale. She’s Disney’s first villain. And because it’s a musical, I could stretch my performance and make it a lot more dramatic and a lot more animated, which was just delightful. I loved it, and I changed my voice and did all these different things. And it was just super fun, and I can’t wait to I can’t wait to see how you know how this is going to turn out.
While I’m not a fan of Disney remaking all of their animated films, I have no doubt that Gadot will be amazing in this role. When Snow White It has been officially announced, Walt Disney Pictures President of Production Sean Bailey said:
“We were given an incredible opportunity to figure out what we wanted to be as a live-action team. We were given a lot of freedom to think about what that was,” Bailey said. “We thought that if Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America are Marvel superheroes, then maybe Alice, Cinderella, Mowgli, and Belle are our superheroes, and Cruella and Maleficent are our supervillains. Maybe if there’s a way to reconnect with that “affinity for what those characters mean to people in a way that gets the best talent and uses the best technology, that could become something really exciting. It feels very Disney, playing to the competitive advantages of this label.”
Webb added, “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are only the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become integral to the rediscovery of joy in this classic Disney fairy tale.”
Zegler is the protagonist Disney’s Snow White alongside Gadot, who will play the Evil Queen. Webb is directing a script by Greta Gervig (Lady Bird, Little Women) AND Erin Cressida Wilson (Chloe, The Girl on the Train).
Snow White hits theaters March 22, 2024!
