DUNE: THE SISTERHOOD Adds Olivia Williams and Jodhi May to the cast and a new director

The HBO series Dune Dune: The Sisterhood he added Olivia Williams AND Jodhi May to the cast. They will replace previously announced cast members Shirley Henderson AND Indira Varma, that dropped out of the project. Henderson dropped out of the series due to “creative changes”, while Varma had to leave due to scheduling conflicts. Williams will play Tula Harkonnen, while May will play Natalya.

It was also reported that Anna Foster is now on board as one of the directors of the series and will fill in Johan Renkwho left at the same time as Henderson.

The actors join the previous cast Emilia Watson (Chernobyl), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (The colony), Shalom Brune-Franklin (The tourist), Faoilean Cunningham (The Norman), Aoife Hinds (Normal people), Cloe Lea (Foundation). Mark Strong (Shazam!, 1917), Jade Anuka (Last Christmas, his dark subjects), AND Chris Massone (Riverdale, Broadchurch).

In November, creator of the series Diane Ademu-John (The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Originals and The Vampire Diaries) stepped down as co-showrunner, but remains involved as an executive producer. The series is written by Alison Schapkerwho now serves as showrunner. John Spaihtswhich he co-wrote Dunealso worked on the series, e Johan Renk (Chernobyl) will direct the first episode and serve as an executive producer.

The story is set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides existed and follows the Harkonnen sisters as they battle the forces that threaten the future of humanity and found the legendary sect known as the Bene Gesserit. Watson and Henderson will play Valya Harkonnen and Tula Harkonnen respectively, the formidable Harkonnen sisters, who have risen to power in the Sisterhood.

The series is “designed to coexist” with the Dune films, and the story is told “through the eyes of a mysterious order of women known as the Bene Gesserit. Gifted with extraordinary abilities through their mastery of body and mind, the Bene Gesserit deftly weave through the feudal politics and intrigue of the Imperium, pursuing agendas of their own that will eventually lead them to the enigmatic planet Arrakis, known to its inhabitants as Dunes. .”
