Wonder Roger: the musical is coming to the Hyperion Theater at Disneyland’s California Adventure Park this summer, and today we’ve got a new behind-the-scenes video to watch that offers some fun details about the stage show.
Roger: the musical is based on the life of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. What we saw in Hawkeye showcased a breathtaking musical number based on The Avengers’ Battle of New York, titled “Save the City.” The original song was co-written by Scott Wittmann and producer Marc Shaiman.
When the comedy first appeared in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, it quickly became a fan-favorite sensation and audiences wanted to see it come to life for real. Well this is happening now and it looks like it will be an incredibly fun live performance.
Roger: the musical came about when Kevin Feige wanted to meet Shaiman and Wittman at an Academy Awards dinner: “It turns out Kevin is a soundtrack nerd. He started talking about [the scores I’ve written] one by one and I was like, I can’t believe this is happening. We started exchanging emails about scores and this and that, and when I was going to see it [Marvel movies] I would send him an email. I guess when he came up with this idea for Hawkeye, that there was a musical on Broadway, he luckily he thought of us, and [Scott and I] couldn’t be more ecstatic about it.”
The new video offers a look at the set design, music rehearsals and more! Rogers: The Musical will run for a limited time from June 30 to August 31.
