Starz has released the first trailer for the second season of Stephen Amellit’s the drama of wrestling Heels. The series follows Jack (Amell) and Ace Spade (Alexander Louis), two brothers and rivals who fight for their late father’s wrestling promotion, and tells the story of men and women chasing their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling.

Season 2 begins after “a spectacular show at the South Georgia State Fair, the Duffy Wrestling League’s popularity is suddenly on the upswing. Hoping to seize an opportunity, Jack and his crew prepare for a possible business deal with a new streaming service that could propel them onto a national stage. But his past and his tragedies threaten to upend everything when Ace leaves Duffy and the Dome in his rear view mirror, and vengeful frontman from rival promotion Florida Wrestling Dystopia, Gully, comes calling.

The cast of the series also includes Mary McCormack, Allen Maldonado, Chris Bauer, Trey Tucker, Robby Ramos, Alice Barrett Mitchell, Roxton Garcia, David James Elliott, Joel Murray, Josh SegarraAND Emmy Raver-Lampman. Star of the AEW CM Punk he will also return as Ricky Rabies, joined this season by his real-life wife AJ Mendez as Elle Dorado.

Heels was created by Michael Waldronwho is also an executive producer. Mike O’Malley is executive producer and showrunner. O’Malley previously spoke about season 2, explaining that Jack will have to admit how his own behavior has negatively impacted his family.

“To me, if you don’t have a clear conscience, you’re living a corrosive existence that will eventually get you. Jack has to admit how he treated Ace and how it affected his marriage and her relationship with her son. So here’s Jack, he’s got everything he wanted, but his brother is abandoning him and his wife and son aren’t there.

The new season of the wrestling drama opens July 28 on Starz.
