There have been reports that the production of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse it was a nightmare for the animators and artists working on the film. It was explained that hundreds of them quit in the course of production due to the mismanagement of writer and producer Phil Lord.
next movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is currently out in theaters on March 29, 2024. The next film will put an end to this Miles Morales story. With the final cliffhanger of Through the Spider-Verseyou can bet fans are very excited for this next chapter in the story and how it concludes.
Well, unfortunately, we may have to wait a little longer than we thought, as an artist who worked on the film says there’s “no way” Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released on the scheduled date. The artist told Vulture that less progress has been made on the upcoming sequel than fans might think. He explained:
“They announced that Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released in March next year. I’ve seen people say, “Oh, they probably worked on it at the same time.” There’s no way that movie will come out then. There has been progress on the pre-production side. But as far as production goes, the only progress that has been made on the third one is the exploration or testing that was done before the film was split into two parts. Everyone was fully focused on Across the Spider-Verse and barely crossed the finish line. And now it’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, now we have to do the other one.'”
Well, that looks daunting. The creative team has a lot of work ahead of them, and if they’re really that far behind, yes, we won’t see the movie in March of 2024. Hopefully we won’t have to wait until 2025, but we might have to! At least they have a story going on. Producer Chris Miller previously said:
“We always knew there was more to tell and that there was a lot to explore, but it wasn’t until we worked on [Across the Spider-Verse] that we realized this was the center piece. So now we actually have a proper plan and we know what we’re doing. At the time, we were just painting ourselves into a corner and trying to find a way out.”
The film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp PowersAND Justin K Thompson. Presents the entries of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Issa Rae as Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluya as Spider-Punk, Karan Soni as Spider-Man India, Oscar Isaac like Spider-Man 2099, Jason Schwartzmann like the point, Brian Tiree Henry as Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Velez like Rio Morales, Greta Lee like Lilac, Andy Samberg like Scarlet Spider, and more.
