Mortal combat 2 began filming and producer Todd Garner recently shared a first look at the film’s cast in a behind-the-scenes photo. The group photo was taken in a restaurant during a break in filming and features returning cast members Ludi Lin (Liu.Kang), Mehcad Brooks (Jax Briggs) e Jessica McNamee (Lama Sonya).

The picture includes new cast members such as Charles Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle like Jade, e Ana Thu Ngyen like Queen Sindel.

I’m a big fan of Mortal combat franchise, and while I was excited about that 2021 film, it ended up being super disappointing. Simon Mc Quoidwho directed the last film, returned to direct the sequel, and the script comes from Jeremy Slaterwho worked previously Knight of the Moon AND The Umbrella Academy. Previously speaking about the sequel, Slater said:

“I feel like the blood in Mortal Kombat is great and that’s part of what people come for, you always have to find that balance between fun gore and gross gore, right? Because there are moments where you rip someone’s heart out or the best kill in the first movie is Kung Lao’s spinning hat that cuts her in half and that’s the perfect example of fun gore because it’s disgusting but everyone laughs at the same time right? kind of blood spunk and they’re not sitting there kind of grossed out with close ups of dripping visceral bowels and stuff like that.

“There’s a tongue-in-cheek aspect of Mortal Kombat in terms of violence and in terms of gore, there’s a little wink at the audience that goes, ‘Yeah, we know this is ridiculous, but it’s really funny and we’re all d ‘joke agreement together.’ And when you strike that balance, I think that’s where you get moments like that incredibly bloody first battle that opens the first movie with the soundtrack with Hanzo chopping all the assassins apart or you get the gag or something. to emulate those gory moments from the first one that were really, really successful and had huge audience reactions and how can we give the audience even more this time around.”

Mortal combat 2 has yet to set a release date. I’m not expecting much from the sequel, although it shouldn’t be hard to make it better than the first film. That first film in the series can be streamed on Max.
