Moff Gideon actor Giancarlo Esposito says he’d love to return to THE MANDALORIAN, but his fate is uncertain

For fans who have watched season 3 of The Mandalorian, it was pretty clear that Moff Gideon’s journey had come to a crusty, burnt end. But the villain, played by the amazing evil actor Giancarlo Esposito, appears to have a loophole in the form of a clone pack he was working on. So is it possible we might see Moff Gideon again?! According to Esposito, if it’s a possibility, he’s absolutely willing to go back as often as he wants The Mandalorian the crew will have it.

In a recent interview with The Wrap, Giancarlo raves about the character, saying:

I liked this Moff Gideon character for many reasons. One is that he controls chaos like no other; two is that he is very intelligent and knows everything. This is a fact. And he has skills. Not only is he good with this very foreign object, the dark sword that doesn’t belong to him but really suits him. He’s really good with his TIE fighter. And now in this third season, we see him come up with something that he really doesn’t want to know, as an audience, what the real vision is. And that’s exciting. The anti-hero is really just a fallen hero. There’s a complication about him that I try to live and breathe with when I’m on set.

When asked if he can return for season 4, he said:

I don’t know anything about the fourth season. (Jon) didn’t tell me anything. So many fans say “You were a clone, right?” Could be. I trust Jon knows what he’s doing. I’d like to keep dying and go back. That would be my favorite thing of all. There are many ways to go and I’m open to anything they have at stake.

It would be nice to see Esposito return to play Moff Gideon in an interesting new guise. How many times can we kill this guy?! We do not yet have a precise date for the return of the series, but production is currently suspended pending the end of the writers’ strike.
