The classic 1983 comedy, National Lampoon Holiday, is about to be re-released in theaters for its 40th anniversary, and boy does it make me feel old! This is one of my all time favorite comedies and it’s a movie that will be fun to watch on the big screen!
The film is the protagonist Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, “the ultimate family man who is determined to take his clan on the journey of a lifetime from Chicago to the California theme park, Walley World. But what was supposed to be a perfectly planned escape quickly takes a detour through Murphy’s Law, as Griswold’s gang must defeat vandals, car crashes, and even the LAPD’s SWAT team to get to their destination in one piece. .
National Lampoon’s Vacation will return to theaters nationwide on Sunday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 19 in honor of its 40th anniversary, from Fathom Events and Warner Bros. Pictures. It will play at 4 and 7 pm local time on July 16 and at 7 pm local time on July 19.
The film was written by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s day off) and directed by John Landis (cComing to America, an American werewolf in London). He is also the protagonist Beverly D’Angelo, Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron, with appearances by John Candy, Christie Brinkley, Randy QuaidAND Eugene Levi. Here is a trailer promoting the new release.
