The hit comedy series Jury duty premiered on Freevee a couple of months ago to the delight of all who saw it. The show plays out like a typical American jury proceeding, but the best part is that everyone involved is an actor except for one juror! The series starred James Marden as itself, and was created by Lee Eisenberg AND Gene Stupnitsky.
It was such a great first season, but unfortunately it might be the only one we get. In a recent interview with GamesRadar, co-creator Gene Stupnitsky he doesn’t think another installment is likely.
“Let’s just say I think we need to put him to bed,” Stupnitsky said as he discussed his new film Without hard feelings. “We’ve got lightning in a bottle and I don’t know how we’re ever going to get over it, so I think we just need to do something completely different. But what about Jury duty as an institution, I don’t think we can.”
It is a pity! But I understand there were a lot of factors to this show, and the first season did very well. It would be difficult to recreate. I wish they would try though!
Season 1 of Jury duty is available to watch on Freevee.
