AMC has released the first trailer for the second season of its acclaimed neo-western crime series Dark winds. The first season of this series was great and the next season looks like it will be great!

The series is set in 1971 in a remote Navajo Nation outpost near Monument Valley, and the story follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) of the Tribal Police as he is beset by a string of seemingly unrelated crimes. The closer he gets to the truth, the more he exposes the wounds of his past.

In season two, Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn reunites with Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), his former deputy turned private investigator, “when their separate cases bring them together on a search for the same suspect. They find themselves in the high desert of Navajo Country hunting down a killer who has targeted them to protect a secret that reopens old wounds and challenges Leaphorn’s moral and professional code. With the help of Sgt. Manuelito (Matten) and Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena (Longmire is a Martinez), Leaphorn and Chee must thwart their would-be killer and restore balance not only to their lives, but also to the privacy that depends on them.”

The series was created by Graham Roland and together he is executive producer George RR Martin (Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon), Robert Redford, Annie Hillermann, Chris Eyre, Vince Calandra, Vince GerardiAND Tina Elmo.

The rest of the cast includes Jessica Matte, Deanna Allison, Rainn Wilson, Elva War, Jeremiah Bitsui, Eugene Brave RockAND Noah Emmerich.

Dark winds is based on the Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman, and the second season will air Thursday, July 27 on AMC+ and Sunday, July 30 on AMC.
