A lot of casting rumors have surfaced James Gunnthe next film project Superman: Legacy. Fans are excited to hear who will play the new versions of Clark Kent/Superman, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor and more.
We have heard it David Corenswet (Pearl, Hollywood AND The politician) is the first choice for Superman followed by Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth), Andrew Richardson (Daughter of the bride), AND Pierson Fode (The brave and the beautiful).
Some of the other items include Rachel Brosnahan (The wonderful Mrs. Maisel), Samara texture (Ready or Not), Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), AND Emma Mackey (Sex education) for the role of Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult (Renfeld) is also in the running, perhaps as Lex Luthor.
Gunn recently addressed these casting rumors during an appearance on Michael Rosenbaumis the podcast Inside you. Before we get into that, though, she explained that they’re narrowing down their casting choices. She said: “Now that we’ve done a lot of auditions, we’re narrowing it down. We’re not done yet.”
As for the casting rumors, she said, “There are things that are completely false, but I can’t go out there and say, ‘Oh, this isn’t true, and this isn’t true’ without looking into everything. And by the way, it’s not the audience — at this point, I don’t think it’s anyone’s business who’s screen-testing for a role. This is a very private thing. Journalists have to do what they have to do. This is their job. They are trying to get hits.
Gunn continued to explain, “They find out some things from agencies, but here’s the rub: They find out some things from agencies that might be true. They find out other things from agencies, which are agencies that push their clients and try to pump them up, like, “I think my client is testing!” There’s a lot of nonsense that comes out of it, and that’s hard, because there are people out there who are supposedly testing that aren’t, and that has to be hard for them as people. And there are other people who might get tested… and I think it’s private between me and them.”
The film will introduce a new version of Superman and tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, driven by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Superman: Legacy will launch the film portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1, and will be followed by The brave and the daring, Supergirl, Swamp thingand more.
