Prime Video has released a trailer for the upcoming horror comedy series The Horror of Dolores Roach, which is based on the popular fictional horror podcast of the same name. The story itself appears to be inspired by Sweeney Todd.
In the story, “After an unjust 16-year prison sentence, Dolores Roach (Justina Macchado) returns home to genteel Washington Heights, where she is reunited with an old stoner friend, Luis, who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement below his empanada shop. When the promise of newfound stability is quickly threatened, Dolores ‘Magic Hands’ is pushed to shocking extremes to survive.
Basically he starts killing people, and then his friend Luis starts cooking human flesh from the people he kills and putting it in his empanadas. In Sweet Todd, the main character is released from prison and returns to London where he lives and works in Mrs. Lovett’s meat pie shop. Sweeney Todd works as a barber and starts killing people, and then Lovett grinds up the meat to put into meat pies that he sells.
The Horror of Dolores Roach is a series created by the writer Marcus Aaronand is also the protagonist Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, K. Todd Freeman, Ilan Eskenazi, Jessica Pimentel, Jimmy Alvarez, Marc MaroneAND Judy Reyes. The horror comedy series will launch on Prime Video on July 7, 2023.
