Sasha Calle he was really great playing Supergirl in the director Andy Muschietti’S The flash, and had some pretty badass scenes in the film. I’d really like to see that version of the character explored further in other movies, but I have no idea if that’s going to happen.
Calle certainly doesn’t want this to be a one-time superhero experience for her. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Calle said she would love to continue playing Supergirl in the DC Cinematic Universe! She said:
“I hope to continue playing Supergirl. I love her deeply! And I think so [The Flash] it really is a runway to a bigger story for her. We don’t really experience much. I feel like this is a runway to a bigger story. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, by Tom King, is an amazing comic. I love it. I think it’s so beautiful. So yes, I hope to continue. I hope to continue playing Supergirl for sure.
She definitely has some ideas she’d like to explore! We don’t really know what James Gunn AND Peter SafranThe plan is for the actress to move on. They announced a Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow series project that the actress mentioned, and they said about it:
“Super Girl Woman of tomorrow. This is based on Tom King’s wonderful comic book series that came out just last year. He is ready for lots of awards. This is a very different kind of Super Girl. In our series, we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he is a baby versus a super girl who was raised on a sliver of rock off the coast of Krypton and has seen everyone around she dying and being killed in horrific ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then she came to earth when she was a little girl and it’s way more hardcore. She’s not exactly the Super Girl we’re used to seeing.
We have no idea if Calle’s version of Supergirl will be the one we see in this project. If it is, that could work, and it would pretty much be a prequel story leading up to how the story picks up for her in The flash. But again, Gunn and Safran may have a completely different vision for Supergirl in this project.
Regardless, I’d love to see Sasha Calle come back to play Supergirl again at some point. We’ll just have to wait and see if she gets that chance!
