New footage from AHSOKA shows Sabine Wren wielding Ezra Bridger’s lightsaber

There is an interesting little detail that initially escaped me when watching the latest trailer released for Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: Ahsoka series. There is a short film showing Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) wielding Ezra Bridger’s lightsaber!

In the footage, which you can see in the trailer below, Sabine is shown wielding a green lightsaber as she faces new villain Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno).

As you can imagine, hardcore fans are freaking out on Twitter at the moment.

Another fan he said enthusiastically: “SABINE WITH EZRA’S LIGHTSABER MY HYPE IS THROUGH THE F**KING ROOF”

It is exciting! And one day, I guess we’ll see Ezra reunite with his lightsaber. The show will pick up where Star Wars: Rebels interrupted, with the search for Ezra Bridger. The series is set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka “follows former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) while investigating an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

That threat is Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), and Ezra departed with him to an unknown place. Sabine joins Ahsoka on her journey, and is still very dedicated to finding Ezra. They will be joined by Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), most likely the droid, Chopper and Zeb will also return. Speaking of Ezra, Bordizzo previously said:

“He feels obligated to her. When they liberated Lothal, she was given hero status. But she doesn’t feel like she earned this because she lost her friend in that whole debacle. She’s just focused on her promise to find him.

The official series logline reads: “Set after the fall of the Empire, Star Wars: Ahsoka follows former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series is also starring Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ivanna Sakhno, Eman Esfandi like Ezra, Ray Stevenson such as Baylon, e Ivanna Sakhno like ShinHati.

The limited series is written by Dave Filoni which produces executive together with Jon Favreau AND Kathleen Kennedy.

The series will debut on Disney+ on August 23, 2023
