Last week, it was announced that Kim Cattrall will return to play Samantha Jones on HBO Sex and the city spin-off series, That’s it. She famously did not return to the show, which debuted its first season in 2021. She apparently wanted nothing to do with the sequel series, but after an off-screen storyline, Cattrall agreed to make a cameo in this one. season.
Star of the series Evan Handlerwho plays Charlotte (Kristin Davis) husband Harry Goldenblatt, spoke to People (via THR) about Cattrall’s return, and it’s apparently less of a reunion than fans were hoping for. When asked how he felt about it, Handler explained, “I think it’s great. I do. Apparently, [her cameo] it was filmed in the garage somewhere with no contact with anyone, so the only place I can welcome her is in my living room when she airs on the television,” he joked.
Cattrall’s absence from the reboot was explained in season 1, which noted that Samantha moved to London after a falling out with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker). The two eventually reconnected via text message and agreed to meet up and talk about what happened. It doesn’t look like they’ll meet next season, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the story is handled.
The show welcomes back Parker, Davis and Cynthia Nixon in the starring roles, with Handler and Mario Cantone return. It also includes stars from the first season returning to the series Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Sara RamirezAND Karen Pitman. Candice Bergenwho played Carrie’s editor, Enid Frick Sex and the cityhe will reprise his role in season two. Gloria Steinem AND Sam Smith will guest star as themselves.
John Corbett will be making her long-awaited return to the Sex and the City universe in a “substantial multi-episode arc,” as the first teaser confirms. Toni Dance he will join the second season as himself, playing the father of Che Diaz (Ramirez) in a sitcom.
Max announced that the first two episodes of season two will debut on June 22, with subsequent episodes dropping every Thursday. The season will consist of 11 episodes. Check out the teaser below, if you missed it, and let us know if you’ll watch it.
