The director behind the recent adaptation of Stephen King’S The boogeyman, Rob Wildhe has a couple of new film projects in the works and also has an idea for a sequel to The Boogeyman that he would like to tell. The boogeyman it was a great and terrifying horror film that audiences seem to enjoy.
During a recent interview with Discussing Film, Savage was asked about a potential film project in development with the producer. Sam Raimi, which is almost ready. There are also a couple of others he’s working on:
“Yeah, I’m really excited about the one with Sam. That’s been a long journey, but we’re just getting him to a point where I think he’s almost ready to go. I actually have a couple projects with Sam, there’s a couple that haven’t been announced yet that are really exciting. I love working with him. There’s also a short film adaptation that I’ve done called Salt, which is another kind of demon horror that I’m really excited about and I think might be one that comes next.
Savage has teased another film, which he describes as “The Hills Have Eyes for the Next Generation,” and is developing it with the producers of Barbarian. In this regard he says:
“I’m actually making a film that I’m fucking excited about that I think could be The Hills Have Eyes for the Next Generation. It’s an original film that I’m working on with the same guys who made Barbarian, the same producers.
He also revealed that he has a “great idea for a Boogeyman sequel,” saying:
“And then we also had a fucking great idea for a Boogeyman sequel that everyone is really excited about. It’s not what you’d expect from a major sequel to a studio film, but it’s truly terrifying. I’m really excited about it. So if this movie doesn’t bomb, maybe it could be next! This too is on the horizon”.
As a fan of the first film, I hope it has a sequel! I’d be curious to see how they handle it and why it’s not what we would have expected it to be.
In the film, “High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are devastated by the recent death of their mother and don’t get much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is coping with his own grief. When a desperate patient shows up unexpectedly at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.
The script of the film comes from ScottBeck AND Bryan Woods (A quiet place) AND Marco Heyman (Black Swan). He is the protagonist Sofia Thatcher (Yellow jackets), Chris Messina (Birds of prey), Vivian Lyra Blair (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Marine Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Madison Hu (Bizarardvark), Lisa Gay Hamilton (Vice), AND David Dastmalchian (Dune).
The film is produced by Shawn Levi (Stranger Things), Dan Levi (arrival), e DanCohen (The Adam Project). The Boogeyman hit theaters last weekend on June 2, 2023.
