A clip from Ridley Scottthe impending historical epic Napoleon has surfaced and offers a brief look at Joaquin Fenice like Napoleon Bonaparte. A couple of months ago, I got to see a battle sequence from the movie, and the footage I saw featured one of the biggest, most jaw-dropping battle sequences we’ve ever seen from Scott. The film is described as “an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift and ruthless rise to emperor, seen through the prism of his enthralling and often volatile relationship with his wife and true love, Josephine, played by Vanessa Kirby.”
It is explained that the film “captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and incredible strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.”
Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The Crown) assumes the role of Empress Josephine. Speaking about the film, Scott said: “Napoleon is a man I’ve always been fascinated by. He came out of nowhere to rule everything, but in the meantime he was waging a romantic war with his adulterous wife Josephine. He conquered the world to try to conquer her love, and when he couldn’t, he won it over to destroy her and destroyed himself in the process.
The film was written by David Scarpaand the original title was Kitbag, which comes from the saying: “There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s bag.”
Apple Original Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment will be released Napoleon Wednesday 22 November 2023.
