Ahsoka Tano’s journey continues in Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated series Star Wars: Ahsokaand we have a new image to share with you Rosario Dawson in the title role, looking stoic.

Ahsoka has been a fan favorite character ever since she was introduced in Star Wars universe as Anakin Skywalker’s teenage apprentice. He embarked on a long and intense journey that led her to face Darth Vader. He made his live-action debut in The Mandalorian and later inside Boba Fett’s bookbut now the focus will be on her and her mission.

His next story picks up where the animated series, Star Wars Rebels, left out. He finds himself once again teaming up with Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and more as they continue their journey to find Ezra.

In an interview with Empire it was explained that Ahsoka will find a new purpose in the story. She doesn’t consider herself a Jedi, and speaking of her character and where she is now with her life, Dave Filoni said:

“She’s a drifter at this point and is in many ways wary of any organization as such because of the power that comes with it as a group. She walks a path that basically died out a long time ago, and there aren’t many like her left, if any. So it’s a lonely thing. How is that life? If you are a loner, you have a very small circle of friends. What is it like, then, when you try to open yourself up again?

Though he’s lived a lonely life, it’s nice to know he’ll reconnect with old friends for a shared purpose: to find their friend. Some of the other characters that will appear include Chopper the droid and Zeb, who appeared in the latest season of The Mandalorian. Speaking about the biggest challenge in making this series, Filoni said:

“The biggest challenge has been that there’s a whole group of audiences that know about it and a whole group that doesn’t. She has one foot in Star Wars that a lot of people know about because of her connection to Anakin, yet she’s all new and she can go her way, her way. I think that makes it an interesting bridge between what has come before and what is actually possible.”

When asked what George Lucas thinks of all this, Filoni said: “It’s almost like when you deliver a big paper at school. It’s like, ‘Here it is!’” I’m sure Lucas will like it. I am so excited about this show and have no doubt that Filoni will deliver something amazing Star Wars series!

The series will debut exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.
