It had already been reported Dwayne Johnson he was returning to reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in the Fast & Furious franchise, and appeared in the post-credits scene in Fast X. So while we knew Johnson would be back for more Fast and Furious sprees, the actor has now officially made the announcement himself in a video he shared on social media.

The film was written by Chris Morganand while plot details haven’t been revealed, it will bridge the gap between the events of Fast X and the imminent Fast X sequel which is expected in 2025.

You can check it out below:

It was actually a big surprise for fans to learn that Johnson would be returning mostly because of the heated drama he had with Vin Diesel. Johnson first appeared as Hobbs in the fifth Fast & Furious franchise. He ended up having a public dispute with Diesel and it prompted the two actors to part ways.

Diesel later made a public plea for Johnson to “fulfill his destiny” and return for Fast X. Johnson wasn’t happy with how Diesel handled the situation and actually slammed him for his public plea because Johnson had already said to Diesel not. Johnson said:

“I said [Diesel] directly that I would not return to the franchise. I was firm but cordial with my words and said that I would always support the cast and always root for the success of the franchise, but that there was no chance of me returning. Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like her raising her children in the mail, as well as the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out. We talked about it months ago and we came to a clear understanding.”

Johnson went on to say that Diesel’s appeal muddied the waters after he concluded his time with the franchise gratefully. But he now he’s coming back to fulfill his destiny.

Are you excited to hear that Johnson will be back for more Fast and Furious action!? Did you like Fast X, are you happy to see that the saga is finally coming to an end?
