I have here a trailer for you to watch for the long lost 1962 whale movie Kaiju, The whale godwhich will be released in theaters in the United States for the first time.
The news comes from Sci-fi Japan, which states, “This is the first official North American release for The Whale God, which has also been marketed internationally under the title Killer Whale.”
The whale god was headed by Tokuzo Tanaka and “presents extraordinary life-size practical effects”. In the film, “Once a year, the sleepy fishing village of Wadaura in southern Japan is in an uproar. Whalers have always focused their efforts on trying to catch a killer whale that is easily twice the size of a normal leviathan and passes by at the same time each year.
He explains: “Shaki, whose grandfather, father and older brother were all victims of the killer whale, is determined to kill her. Prompted, the village chief promises to give his only daughter and all of her possessions to anyone who can get rid of the terrible whale.
Kojiro Hongo (Giocora series) and Takeshi Shimura (Godzilla) star. SRS Cinema will release The whale god on DVD, Blu-ray and digital. No date has been set yet.
