Reckless star Charlie Cox is making the leap from Netflix to Disney+ with its next series Daredevil: Born Again. But it won’t be his first official introduction to the MCU, as Cox’s character Matt Murdock/Daredevil appeared in Spiderman: There is no way back home and the series She-Hulk: Advocate.

So we have an idea of what’s going on with Murdock, but it turns out that Charlie Cox himself hasn’t even seen his scenes in the She-Hulk series. Cox recently appeared alongside his co-star Vincent D’Onofrio at ICCCon in Nashville, and took part in a panel hosted by Phase Zero’s Brandon Davis (via CB). During the event, Cox spoke about reprising his role, saying:

“And so when She-Hulk came along and I read those scripts, I thought this was a really good opportunity to try that tone with this character and see if I can stay true to the character but also find a side of him that’s represented in the comics that would be appropriate for that show, because the problem is, if you take the Daredevil that we know from the other series and put him in She-Hulk, I think he becomes the butt of the joke. He’s the serious one and all, so I don’t I wanted to. I don’t think it is. So I wanted it to match Jennifer Walters a little bit and that experiment for me was really fun.”

He continued:

“And I think people have responded to that. I actually haven’t even seen that episode. I’ve seen the bits and pieces of when we do the ADR [automated dialog replacement], which is voiceover and it sounds funny, you know what I mean? But it was a really interesting experiment to see if you could take that character and without losing anything — losing what people love about that character, what I love about that character — and still see him in different places. He is also true to life. There are times in your life when you find it very difficult to find a sense of humor because you’re struggling or because life is hard, and there are times when life flows so smoothly and it’s all about sunglasses and roses.”

I mean, I guess he was there when he shot the scenes, so he doesn’t really need to watch them. But with the precise continuity of the MCU, it would probably be a good idea for him to brush up moving forward. I can not wait to Daredevil: Born Again, which will arrive on Disney + next year, but it is one of the series that is affected by the strike of the writers. We will keep you posted on changes in the future.
