Apple TV+ has released the first teaser trailer for Martin Scorseseit’s a long-awaited epic The flower moon killers, and as everyone says, it looks like a masterpiece. It feels like a beautifully made film that tells a dark story of greed and murder.

Leonardo Dicaprio he stars in the film as Ernest Burkhart, and is joined by Lily Glastone as Mollie Burkhart, an Osage married to Ernest, granddaughter of a powerful local rancher, played by Robert DeNiro. Brendan Fraser (The Mummy) AND Jesse Plemon (Horn) also star in the film.

The film is based on David Grannthe book of, Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, and the story is set in 1920s Oklahoma. It depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-rich Osage Nation, a series of brutal crimes that became known as the Reign of Terror. Here is a description of the story:

In the late nineteenth century, the Osage Indians were driven onto a supposedly worthless stretch of land in northeastern Oklahoma. But their turf turned out to be atop one of the largest oil fields in the United States; to get that oil, prospectors had to pay the tribe rents and royalties. By the 1920s, Osage Nation members had become the wealthiest people per capita in the world. And then the Osage began to die under mysterious circumstances.

When previously talking about the film, screenwriter Eric Rot she shared, “This was a unique story that I knew nothing about. It showed my ignorance. I thought, “That’s amazing, it could be a western.” Marty has never done a western. It’s the first time you’ll see a street scene where there are 90% Indigenous Native Americans and 1 or 2% Caucasians.”

Roth also said that he uses “a lot of Western tropes” in the story. He even teased something special planned for the end credits, saying, “I’ve come up with an amazing way to do the end credits, that you’ve never seen. The other day he texted me: “I’ll be shooting our end credits in a couple of days.” I was so happy that he was doing it.

He also explained that this movie is “nothing we’ve ever seen” and that it will be “one for the ages,” saying, “I know Marty is trying to make a movie that’s probably the last Western that would be made like this , and yet, with this incredible social document underneath, and the violence and the environment. I think it’s going to be something we’ve never seen, in a way. And so this is, to me, one for the ages.

The film will have a limited theatrical release on October 6, 2023, with a wide theatrical release following on October 20, 2023. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think.
