James Gunn’S Guardians of the Galaxy the franchise has come to an end, giving fans the final chapter in their story. It’s been fun to see their evolution as well as their arcs across the three main films, as well as even though avengers movie. While Gunn has always clarified that he knew he was going to tell their story in three parts, and knew the general outline of it, he has made some changes along the way, and mentioned it recently while doing press for vol. 3.
The director recently claimed that he almost killed Gamora vol. 2but decided not to, and that made it easier when the Russo Brothers asked if they could take it out in their Avengers: Infinity War – Avengers: Endgame plot. Gunn says he was fine with that route, as it would work with his own story, but insisted on including a scene in infinite war that he needed to shoot to bring his characters together.
Gunn said The New York Times of the kiss between Quill and Gamora:
“I begged them for that kiss in the movie, because it was needed to really cement their relationship. I had a kiss in vol. 2 which I cut – it was great, but it came at a weird time. At the end of vol. 2, you establish the fact that they have feelings for each other quite distinctly, but in “Infinity War”, we had to establish that they were now engaged and that was a regular thing for them. It wasn’t really about the kiss, it was about proving that they were now a couple.”
Does this make sense. It wasn’t a huge request and had to be established for the story to make sense with the events that were unfolding.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 it’s in theaters now. Do you like the way the trilogy ended?
