Since teaming up on ‘Rocky IV’ (1985), Dolph Lundgren and Sylvester Stallone have collaborated regularly in the film business. For years these two actors have shared a great friendship which, as in any relationship, has had its ups and downs. However, one of the most tense moments between them occurred during the filming of ‘The Expendables’ (“The Expendables” in English).

Dolph Lundgren has revealed that the incident occurred while they were filming a scene for the film released in 2010. Despite the fact that the Swedish actor thought he was doing his best, Sylvester Stallone did not agree and decided to call him. The problem was that he did it in front of the entire production team, which affected Lundgren’s self-confidence and caused him great frustration.

There have been good times and bad times, kind of like a family to some extent. He was very hard on me in a scene from “The Expendables”. He yelled at me a little in front of the whole team and made me repeat the scene about twenty times. It was like she said, ‘My grandmother could do better. What the hell are you doing?’ And, you know, it was in front of everyone and there was international press present that day,” Lundgren said in an interview.

After waking up, the team decided to take a break for lunch. During that time, Lundgren’s frustration continued to grow and he was determined to take on Stallone. His self-esteem was hurt and he felt an uncontrollable rage. He even went so far as to call his wife to get it off his chest and mentioned the possibility of kicking Stallone out of the film.

I remember he was crying a bit, he was very angry. At that point I called my wife and basically said, “If he says one more word, I’ll knock him out and I’m done with this movie, I’m leaving.” I’ll hit it and walk away,'” Lundgren said.

However, when Lundgren returned to the set, sensing a change in atmosphere. Stallone approached him and apologized for his earlier behavior. He patted him on the back and said:

I am sorry about that. Let’s do one more take and move on.”

After apologies Lundgren put it all in the past and continued to work alongside Stallone on good terms.. She has acknowledged that his friend was a little “crazy” at times, and while they’ve had some disagreements at different times, they’ve always respected each other. For this their friendship has survived intact over the years.

Let’s imagine for a moment what would have happened if the Hollywood star hadn’t apologized. Perhaps we would not have seen Dolph Lundgren in the films “The Expendables”. However, the most worrying thing would have been the possible end of their friendship.
