The first part of Bleach: millennial blood war finished in December. At the end of the 2-part finale, fans were treated to a short trailer for the second part and teased that it would release in July 2023. Taking it one step further, VIZ shared that this second part of Bleach: TYBW it would be called The Separation. I revisited the Bleach manga courtesy of VIZ and I think I know more or less what to expect from the second part.
Before I get into spoilers, I will say that I noticed part 1 of Bleach: TYBW covered around 6 volumes of the manga. It covered volumes 55-60 with a little 61 added if needed. The manga has a runtime of 74 volumes, which means we have to cover around 14 volumes in three other parts of the anime. This gives us about 4-5 volumes per section. By that math, I think The Separation will end midway through volume 66. If you want to avoid spoilers, stop reading now.
What does it mean? We left with Ichigo finally getting his true zanpakutō and Ishida seemingly joining Yhwach. If I’m right, we have some fun stuff coming up. There is a little more training with Squad Zero, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut it short and have some housework lined up for the Soul Reapers as they try to prepare for the Quincy. Then we will have the second invasion which is much more devastating. Much more happens.
During the second invasion, the Soul Reapers are able to turn the tables a bit as they can reclaim their stolen bankai. We also see even more fighting breaking out in Seireitei. These should be pretty cool to look at. Other things to look forward to are Hitsugaya’s zombification, Zaraki entering the fight, and showcasing his zanpakutō’s shikai, Nozarashi. It will be an incredible moment if they get it right. Almost as good as when we see his bankai probably in the final part of Bleach: TYBW. We’ll also see Renji’s new bankai and Rukia’s bankai in action, which will be great to watch. I really hope they give Rukia’s bankai more time to be seen in the anime than in the manga because it seems a bit short in my opinion.
On Quincy’s side, we can expect a great moment in history: Yhwach appoints Ishida as his successor. There are other major things that can happen depending on when the season ends, like the reallocation of powers.
As for where The Separation ends, I’m not sure if it will be when Yhwach enters Reiōkyū or when Ichigo and his friends chase him. What do you think we will see in The Separation? What do you hope will be focused or skipped on?
