It was recently revealed that Pitt will actually be driving a real race car in a real race for the movie. He will drive in the British Grand Prix. The news was revealed during the F1 Accelerate Summit in Miami, which was attended by Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimerand said they “will create an 11th team who will film on track and during the event from Silverstone [the track where the British Grand Prix takes place] until the end of the year.”
Kosinski, Bruckheimer and Pitt are trying to make the most accurate and impressive racing film ever made.
Panel moderator Will Buxton he said: ‘They spent 18 months carrying out what they learned Maverick Top Gun to develop the smallest mobile 6k camera ever designed to bring the viewer into the cockpit. A cockpit where they will actually drive their stars. Right. Brad Pitt driving an F1 car from Silverstone onwards. The car was designed by Mercedes and is already being tested (you may have seen a video online). As well as their actors, in sim and in real life. Lewis Hamilton is in daily communication and advises on plot and script to ensure it is the most accurate racing film ever made.”
He continued, saying, “Joseph says Frankenheimer’s Grand Prix is his greatest touchstone. Both he and Jerry are determined to make the most accurate and impressive racing film anyone has ever seen. Oh. And Tom Cruise He’s already offered to do some more driving if they need him.”
Speaking earlier about the film, Kosinski said it’s “coming fast” and explained that they’re shooting it using the techniques they learned while making it. Top Gun: nonconformist. He said: “He IS fascinating. Can’t wait to show people behind the scenes. We’ll be driving around the track in real cars and trying to apply everything I’ve learned in Top Gun to Formula One. It will be funny.”
He also discussed the way the film is shot, saying: Top Guns it makes us all feel good that our approach works and is appreciated by the public.”
He went on to talk about applying this concept to his next film, saying, “It’s almost funny to me to see people so in love with real photography. Young people hardly saw much of it. They are so used to CGI [computer-generated images] being a great movie tool that when you shoot something for real, it feels groundbreaking. This is exactly the approach for Formula One …to shoot real races and real cars and capture them. It will be a huge but exciting challenge for me.”
The film project is in development for Apple, but there are plans to release it theatrically.
What an honor to host the final panel of the day at #F1Accelerate with movie royalty Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski. Their F1 movie looks amazing. They are building an 11th team and filming on track and at the event from Silverstone through to the end of the year. pic.twitter.com/fPAn2rJVoS
