The second season of Ryan Murphy’s MONSTER Anthology series will focus on Erik and Lyle Menendez

Netflix has released a teaser for the second season of Ryan Murphy’S Monster anthology series and announces that it will focus on the two notorious killers, Lyle and Erik Menendez.

The series is titled Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez and will tell the story of the brothers, convicted in 1996 for the murder of their parents. In addition to that, Netflix will also be developing a documentary and has been granted exclusive access to Lyle and Erik Menendez.

The announcement video that was shared features the actual 911 call from the murders, as Lyle sobs into the phone as he tells the 911 operator that his mother and father were killed. José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez were murdered in their Beverly Hills home in 1989. Erik and Lyle weren’t prime suspects in the murders, but that all changed when police began investigating their involvement months later.

Erik eventually confessed to his psychologist Jerome Oziel, which he told his mistress, Judalon Smyth. “Smyth would become a key witness in the brothers’ trial. During the trial, the brothers said they committed the murders in self-defense after a lifetime of abuse from their parents, especially their father. They were tried separately and both juries deadlocked, resulting in a mistrial.

They were later tried together and eventually found guilty and sentenced to life without parole and remain incarcerated at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in Southern California.

I remember when all of this was happening and the trail was heavily covered in the media. I was in high school at the time and it was the thing that everyone seemed to be talking about. As for me, I was too busy doing a bunch of other stuff at the time to care what was going on with all that stuff.

The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story will follow the incredibly popular first season of Murphy’s anthology series, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Storywho acted Evan Peters. Each installment of the anthology will “tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society.”
