Matthew Lawrence says he was fired from the agency after he refused to strip after the director offered him a role in Marvel.

Matthew Lawrence tells of an Oscar-winning film director’s horrifying experience.

In the last episode of him brotherly love Podcast, Lawrence recalls being offered a role in a Marvel production, but only if he stripped naked.

“There have been many times in my life that I have been suggested that I should get a big role,” said Lawrence. “I lost my desk because I went into the hotel room of a very distinguished Oscar-winning director who I can’t believe they would send me there, who showed up in his clothes and asked me to strip, and who said he should take polaroids of me.

Lawrence added, “And if I did X, Y, and Z, I would be the next Marvel character. I didn’t and my agency fired me for leaving this director’s room.

The actor did not give names or dates when this meeting took place. Lawrence also mentioned the double standards that exist when male actors discuss sexual harassment versus female actors.

“Terry Crews comes out and says it; people laugh at him. People don’t support him,” he said. “They throw him out. Why? Because he is a man who represents masculinity, and I think our society is less willing to hear that situation in men than it is in women.

He continued: ‘Not many people in the industry have come out and talked about it in my opinion. There is also the same situation. Granted, that’s probably about a third of what women go through. The number of men…men also go through that, whether it’s another woman or another man in power.”
