Michael J. Fox on Living with Parkinson’s: “I’m not 80 years old”

Michael J. Fox reflected on the challenges of living with Parkinson’s disease in an interview airing Sunday.

Fox replied, “Yes, he’s knocking on the door. I mean, I’m not going to lie that it’s going to hurt.”

The 61-year-old added that life with the disease “has become more difficult; every day it gets harder. But that’s how it is and who do I see as a result?

“You don’t die of Parkinson’s. You are dying of Parkinson’s. So I thought about his mortality. I’m not going to be 80. I’m not going to be 80.”

Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 at the age of 29, but was able to continue working on screen until 2020. Proceeds fund research into Parkinson’s disease worldwide, providing more than $1 billion for research projects and improved therapies for people living with the disease. gather.
