Sony Pictures recently premiered the first footage of Ridley Scottthe upcoming movie Napoleon, and it was epic! Seriously, this might just be one of the best films of Scott’s career. The film is the protagonist Joaquin Fenice as Napoleon Bonaparte, and is described as “an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift and ruthless rise to emperor, seen through the prism of his enthralling and often volatile relationship with his wife and true love, Josephine , played by Vanessa Kirby.”
It is explained that the film “captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and incredible strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.”
Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The crown) assumes the role of Empress Josephine. Speaking about the film, Scott said: “Napoleon is a man I’ve always been fascinated by. He came out of nowhere to rule everything, but in the meantime he was waging a romantic war with his adulterous wife Josephine. He conquered the world to try to conquer her love, and when he couldn’t, he won it over to destroy her and destroyed himself in the process.
The film was written by David Scarpaand the original title was Kitbagswhich comes from the saying, “There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s bag.”
Apple Original Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment will be released Napoleon Wednesday 22 November 2023.
