Sony Pictures has officially announced that its next Marvel film, Kraven the hunterwill be a R-rated film. Now, this isn’t just going to be an R-rated movie, this movie is going to be a wild, bloody, ultra-violent movie! This is the first film from the Spider-Man universe to be bestowed with the honor.

Aaron Taylor Johnson he’s taking on the role of Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven, who is a big game hunter, and it looks like he’s going to be pretty awesome in this role! He will be joined by Russell Crowe he will play his father. Nikolai Kravinoff. Crowe has previously explained that the film is “unexpectedly dark,” and that’s an understatement!
During Sony Pictures’ presentation at CinemaCon, the first footage premiered in the form of a blood-soaked trailer, and I wasn’t expecting the insane violence it delivered! It was jam-packed with footage of Kraven brutally killing people and tearing them apart. Hell, at one point he bites off some guy’s nose and spits it out! I think their jaws will drop when fans see this first trailer in person.
While I would have thought Venom would be the character to get an R-rated movie, I’m happy to see that Kraven The Hunter is going all out and not holding back! The character definitely deserves it and from what I’ve seen, this movie looks way better than I expected. Now, I just hope the creative team does a great job of telling this story.
In Kraven the hunter, Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff is on a mission to prove he’s the greatest hunter in the world. Taylor-Johnson called the JC Chandor-directed project “a Marvel film strongly rooted in the real world. We know he is a fierce hunter, a highly trained killer. He then answered the “biggest question on the internet” by saying…”F**k yeah, it’s going to be R-rated!”
JC Chandor is directing the film from a script by Mark art AND Matt Holloway (Iron man), and is also the protagonist Ariana DeBose like Calypso, Russell Crowe as Nikolai Kravinoff, Fred Hechinger like Chameleon, Alexander Nivola like a bad stranger, Levi Miller, AND Take 22 star Christopher Abbott as the main villain, The Foreigner.
Kraven the hunter hits theaters October 6, 2023.
